Destination Description
The 'Rainbow Nation' is a terrific birding destination and a great jumping-off point for the whole of the south of the African continent. What is more it has a very well developed birding tradition and a lot of birding tour companies operating within the country and its neighbours. It is a very large country and a couple of weeks birding is unlikely to bag you all the special birds let alone all of those available. Usaually a two week trip will either concentrate on eastern provinces such as KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalunga or the western provinces of South Arica such as the Cape, so we use these two divisions as 'destinations'.
