Nepal – Kathmandu Valley extension to India tour

Operator: Birding Ecotours
Location: Nepal
Duration: 5 days
From : Tue 10th Mar 2009 to Sun 15th Mar 2009
Description:
We offer a 4 day, five night tour extension from India of the Kathmandu valley in Nepal which will give you a taste of Nepal's amazing scenery, birdlife and culture. This tour will include Phulchowki mountain, Sivapuri National Park, Nagarjun National Park and a cultural day focused on the beautifully restored old town of Bhaktapur and the Pasupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa. On this extension tour we will search for species like Bay Woodpecker, Small Minivet, Lesser Racket-tailed Drongo, Puff-throated Babbler and Great and Golden-throated Barbet, all of which are a feast to the eyes. With luck in the early hours of the morning on our ascent of Phulchowki mountain we may be treated a sighting of one Nepal’s most impressive forest birds – the Cutia, a species which is very difficult to find elsewhere. Phulchowki is a birder’s paradise and near the top of this 2800m peak the heath-dominated environment holds birds like Nepal Fulvetta, Whiskered Yuhina and Rufous Sibia can be seen. Birds of prey that we may encounter include Besra, Black Eagle and Mountain Hawk-Eagle.
